General Meeting: Tuesday, Oct. 13th, 4:00pm in the Heritage Hall, 731 S A Street.

Friends Speaker Series Presents: FOHS Docent, Diane Mautner, will discuss,
"From the Gu
ilded Age to the Broadway Stage" on Oct. 13th 5:30pm

Connie Korenstein will portray Carrie Jacobs-Bond, who was the first woman to sell over 1 million copies of sheet
music for "I Love You Truly" (Victorian age) and Diane will portray Harriet Puntenney (thirties-forties), long time
music teacher in Oxnard,  in conversation. 
The format will be similar to "Meeting of Minds", the Steve Allen show.
The program will be highlighted with Ray Mautner playing music of the 1870s through the 1940s and power point
Some of the composers featured will be Scott Joplin, Gilbert and Sullivan, Rodgers and Hammerstein,
Cole Porter, and the Gershwins.

Get 'Punked in Oxnard at the Oxnard Steamunk Fest, Saturday, October 17, 2015

Join the gathering of goggle adorned top hats, corsets, Victorian clothing embellished in clocks and gears,
leather and lace. You may even find fully functioning body parts.  If this all sounds quite out there or if
you've heard about these strange designs and wanted to know more, then the Steampunk 101 lecture is
just for you. Brought to you by the Friends of Heritage Square, the presentation takes place during the

Weekend Tours

Step back in time to the Victorian era each Saturday, from 10 to 4 or Sunday from 1 to 4. Docents  provide information about the architecture and the community leaders who lived in the original homes, built between 1876 thru 1910. For approximately 45 minutes, explore another world that had strict social rules and dress codes. Tours are $5 per person. Tours start at the Heritage Square Visitor Center at 715 So. A Street, across from the water tower.
